Cleaning Brush for model making

Versatile applications and precision

As the name suggests, our brush is used to clean models and tools. However, its application possibilities go far beyond mere cleaning.

In modelling, precision and cleanliness are crucial for success. Whether you are maintaining your miniature artwork, cleaning your tools or preparing your model for painting - the right cleaning brushes are indispensable.

Our cleaning brush can be used in a variety of ways. It is ideal for cleaning engines to remove dirt and deposits, as well as for the precise application of engine oils and special cleaning agents to various materials such as plastic, metal or paint. Grinding residues can also be efficiently removed after grinding work.

The Cleaning Brush is also particularly useful in airbrush technique. It helps to thoroughly clean paint pots and cups to avoid colour changes and mixtures.

The brush supports the application of special techniques, such as creating textures or the precise application of colour, and helps to fine-tune the technique. It can remove excess colour and make small corrections while you are working with airbrush. It also enables thorough cleaning of hard-to-reach areas without causing damage.

The choice of the right cleaning brush depends on the specific requirements and the type of model. For a thorough cleaning that does not damage the model, it is important to choose the right brush. Often, a combination of cleaning methods is required to keep the model in perfect condition.

Brushes with a short handle facilitate access to narrow or hard-to-reach areas, such as complex modelling projects for ships or aircraft models. This brush design offers advantages in terms of handling and control and leads to better results when working on models.

The Cleaning Brush is therefore a versatile tool that can be very useful not only for cleaning, but also for precise painting techniques and achieving specific effects in airbrush painting.

We offer the Cleaning Brushes in different versions, but always with a short handle to ensure maximum flexibility and precision.

Our Cleaning Brush series:

  • Series 9951v7 from our model making range, Brislon synthetic, wooden handle
  • Series 9730v4 white Nylon angular, acrylic handle
  • Series 9748v18 synthetic fine angular, acrylic handle

Dust Brush - brush for dusting and more

Series 86157v4

A dust brush is used, as the name suggests, for dust removal and fine cleaning.

But its application possibilities go far beyond that!

Applications in model making

Dust removal and preparations before painting

The Dust Brush is indispensable for keeping models dust-free and for cleaning small details. For fine cleaning, it removes dust and dirt so that details become visible again.

Before painting a model, the dust brush ensures that the surface is free of dust and dirt.

Materials and characterstics

The Dust Brush is made of synthetic fibres that are slightly longer and do not leave scratches on surfaces. It removes dust from small cracks and crevices and is easy to handle.

Thanks to its antistatic properties, the cleaned surfaces remain dust-free for longer. The brush is also durable and easy to clean.

The round, walnut-brown flamed wooden handle from sustainable forestry ensures a good grip.

Further applications

A dust brush can do much more. When working with powder colours, it is used to emphasise details or blend colours. Layers of powder colours in coordinated shades create depth and complexity.

Grass, bushes or trees can be shaded with powder colours in diorama construction. Battle damage on aircrafts, dirt on vehicles or soiling on uniforms and equipment can also be realistically simulated. The engine compartment of a model can also be provided with grease and oil effects.

Combined techniques

Powder colours can be combined well with other techniques such as washes, dry brushing or airbrushing. There are no limits to your imagination!

Cleaning advice

The Dust Brush should be cleaned with warm water and mild cleaning agents, such as our brush shampoo. The shampoo is moved to the edge of the fibres by circular movements and cleans the brush thoroughly. After cleaning, the brush should be left to dry on an absorbent surface or hung upside down with the fibres facing downwards.

Conclusion

A dust brush is indispensable in model making to preserve the quality and appearance of the models.

GlueBrush - helpful tool for gluing and more

Series 691040

When it comes to gluing processes, the right technique is half the battle. Almost all kinds of material can be bonded with themselves or with other materials.

It is not only the correct gluing method that is important. The glue often sticks to the tool and not to the part to be glued, which of course leads to frustration. Therefore, we have developed the Glue Brush as a useful tool for very precisely gluing.

The brush is ideal for paints, powder, pigments, lubricants and for cleaning work.

Also in the micro-electronics sector, where the amount of adhesives can be only a few micrograms, this tool is very helpful.

The specially designed holder which is 3D printed in our production is made of sustainable resin and can be printed with your company logo by pad printing technique.

The 3D holder is available at a MOQ of 120 pieces (article no. 691040)

The Nano Sticks can be supplied in packs containing 18 pieces with MOQ of 10 packs:

Spray Brush - a multipurpose accessory

Series 1004

Some things are special when they cannot be calculated.

According to Albert Einstein, this can be unterstood as coincidence. This is not just something that plays an important role in everyday life, but is also used as a creative element in art.

The spray technique was given a meaning of its own by the already existing technique, but also by action and drip paintings.

Thus, this type of expressive abstract spray art becomes its own way of art.

We consider the spray technique to be a special artistic process in which colors are sprayed or thrown onto the canvas or object in an expressive act.

This technique is also used in model making, as a base pattern or for the finishing touch.

This brush makes it easy to create tree crowns with different levels of brightness that show light and shadow areas or to suggest structures on rocks. It is equally suitable for painting, setting accents or for the stippling technique.

Our Spray Brush is a little all-rounder!

The Spray Brush is made of high-quality natural bristles, a triangular ferrule and a high-quality wooden FSC®  certified handle.

The shorter bristles result in a robust brush that is not too stiff. It stands out with its great paint absorbing capacity.

Thanks to its special shape - pointed, flat and edged - this brush offers various possibilites for creativity!

Weathering Brush - brush for weathering effects

Series EB505v18, EB515v17, EB500v4

Weathering – The aging effect

Everything that exists was created to pass away and the ravages of time not only gnaw away at us, but also at the things that exist around us.

Rain, wind, sand, mud and dirt, for example, are influences that change our possessions.

The beauty of modelling is that there are a multitude of possibilities to make a model into what you want it to be.

Whether a

  • surface should appear oxidised, rusted or weathered
  • a natural color and wear-out effect should be created
  • the character of a figure be emphasised
  • or creating effects with use of different media

all results are astonishing!

The list of possibilities, such as working with pigments, colours, chalks, salt or tools and materials, is long.

If you are looking for a new challenge and want to expand your modelling repertoire, you can try out the weathering technique.

If you use a sponge instead of a brush to apply the colour, a random pattern is created all by itself.

The pores of the sponge release the colour irregularly, depending on the pressure you apply. This leads to larger and smaller colour deposits on the model.
